Is Watching The Television Really Fulfilling?
Do you realize how much TV you are watching every single day? If you think there are only 24 hours in an entire day then a report by the Nielsen Company which suggests the average US citizen watches about 34 hours of TV per week is shocking. I realize the big flaw in those figures is that they are averages, so some people will watch far less than that, but that also means some people watch far more to balance it out.
I think it is the fact that LCD TVs flooded the market and drove prices down while taking up much less space that has driven the viewing figures up. Before the came onto the market a television was a huge, unwieldy and expensive item. Now kids can watch whatever they want in their bedrooms, for as long as they want, because they are out of the prying eyes of their parents. Plus the main TV of the household, which used to be anything from a 32 inch to a 42 inch television has started to go up in size and people have huge 60 inch TVs now in rooms that really aren’t big enough for them.
I believe that our increased TV viewing habits are partly responsible for the massive obesity epidemic that is sweeping the Western world right now, that plus the low cost and ease of purchasing food which is high in calories and low in nutrients. But what can you do instead of watching all that TV?
A simple thing that you can do is to try out some new hobbies until you find one that you like. There are so many different hobbies you can try that there is something for everyone, and even if they don’t get you physically active then at least they get you mentally active. However even something like stamp collecting will be more rewarding than watching endless repeats of Friends on TV. A lot of people right now will be using the excuse that they don’t have enough time to take up a new hobby and get any good at it, but if you have enough time to watch 5 hours of TV per day then you have enough free time for this. With that kind of time free each week then the world is your oyster and you could do anything from learning to speak a foreign language to even learning an instrument you have always wanted to.
Or if none of those hobbies appeal to you then consider going back to school. If you want to get a better or even just a different job then with all the extra time you’d have from not watching TV you could take night classes in something to get new qualifications. If you hate the idea of going back to school and having to actually leave the house to learn then instead you could do a course through one of the distance learning companies. You can see it is quite easy to find interesting things to do if you take a few minutes to search online for hobbies or courses that you want to know more about, and yes you will still have plenty of time to watch your favorite shows even if you do take my advice!
Advanced LCD Technology: TFT Displays
LCD TFT monitors are the most popular type of active matrix LCD display currently on the market. LCD TFT monitors or liquid crystal display using thin-film transistor technology can display crisp and vivid images for multimedia applications for television, computers, projection screens and mobile applications such as handheld video games, cell phones and digital assistants.
Passive matrix LCD technology used in calculators and digital watches applies voltage to a pixel, change the orientation of the liquid crystals to display a portion of the image. This pixel cell acts as a capacitor, slowly bleeding from the tension and allows the crystal to return naturally to its original position. This works well for data-oriented displays that do not require a fast refresh rate.
LCD TFT monitors actively change the location of the liquid crystals from OFF to ON and back again using one transistor in each cell. This prevents ghosting and blurring of moving objects that appear on the screen. The use of LCD TFT monitors with their active matrix design allows LCD technology will be used for multimedia applications with rapidly changing elements such as video games and live action films.
transistor layer of a TFT LCD display consists of a thin film of semiconductor on top of a glass substrate. The color LCD TFT displays, each pixel consists of a blue, red and green cell to produce the entire spectrum of visible light. Each of these cells has its own transistor and liquid crystal material. Liquid crystal can change position rapidly as a liquid but also has the ability to stay in an arranged crystalline position. In essence, each cell with a window transistor is the hand that opens liquid crystal blinds to either release or withhold light. When millions of these cells work together, they produce a working image.
source of light depends on the type of TFT LCD monitors. In a reflective TFT screen that comes surrounding ambient light screen, and is thrown back by a mirror surface behind the pixel matrix. This type of display requires good lighting to be effective. Back lighting, side lighting and front lighting has been used to actively produce light for viewing in low light conditions, but they can appear washed out in bright light and difficult to see.
or CCFL cold cathode fluorescent lamps are commonly used in TFT LCD monitors for backlighting. These lights are very similar to overhead fluorescent lights used in offices. They are cheap and replaceable. The current trend is towards LED backlighting. LED technology has only recently matured to the point enough to show enough white light to effectively work in this application. LED back lighting has many advantages such as being durable and energy efficient.
The basic technology LCD TFT screens have been around for years. Supplemented with new back-light technology, the LCD TFT preserved market significance and is a current leading option for display devices.

TFT displays: Promoting LCD technology
TFT display modules is a viable option for many consumers, commercial and industrial applications. Their combination of high resolution and fast refresh rate makes them a great option for time-sensitive applications in everything from multimedia, health monitoring, and industrial systems control.
TFT display modules using a popular LCD active matrix technology. TFT LCD, or liquid crystal display using thin-film transistor technology for displays crisp and vivid images for use in such consumer devices such as computers, televisions, projection screens, mobile phones, digital assistants and handheld video games.
active matrix display technology used in TFT display modules differ from passive matrix LCD, used in calculators and digital watches. In passive matrix, voltage applied to a pixel cell, change the orientation of liquid crystals. Pixel cell acts as a capacitor and this charge for a time. When used to rapidly changing graphics, it can lead to a variety of visual artifacts.
TFT display modules actively change the direction of the liquid crystals from OFF to ON to off again. This gives the show a much higher refresh rate and allows a clear depiction of changing images and data.

Early TFT display modules were of the reflective type. In these screens include ambient light screen and reflected back by a surface behind the pixel matrix. This type of display works fine in good lighting conditions, but suffers in low light. Most modern TFT display modules use some form of interior lighting to solve this problem.
Back lighting, side lights and front lights are all used to actively produce light in a TFT display module. CCFL, or cold cathode fluorescent lamp, is a commonly used solution. These fluorescents are very similar to overhead lighting, used in offices and are cheap and replaceable. Advances in LED technology have made it possible to provide back illumination of a thin layer of LEDs. These TFT display modules are very popular, although currently expensive, the technology utilized in high-cost consumer television.
The basic technology behind TFT display modules have been in use for years and appeared in a variety of conditions. By adopting new technology to address its shortcomings, has TFT display modules maintained market significance and is a number one choice for display equipment for communications, office equipment, marine, industrial equipment, medical equipment and other instrumentation.

32 Inch Flat Screen – No More Television Watching On A Tiny Screen
While I was young, we always had a smaller sized television. At any time my dad wished to watch sporting events, or perhaps when my mummy needed to watch her soap operas, it had been a dreadful experience on account of the undersized screen.
With my 32 inch flat screen TV, that has never ever been a problem. Rather than going to the bar and spending hundreds of dollars on drinks and cover fees to watch the game, I can relax at home, and watch all the games on my 32 inch flat screen. During the Super Bowl, I invite all of my friends over to watch the adventure on my TV.

Because none of them have a 32 inch flat screen TV, these people enjoy in front of mine for hours. You can find smaller TV’s that look and feel fine, but it’s impossible to figure out the ball or even the puck on such a small screen. With a 32 inch flat screen, you have the full panoramic wide screen view of all the action.
The quality is incomparable. I will never go back to watching things on the tiny TV after using a 32 inch flat screen. In fact, my TV is much bigger than a lot of the ones I have seen in bars! Why should I sit there and even throw money away, when I can sit in my quiet living room together with friends or family, and watch a 32 inch flat screen right in the comfort of my own home?
When you own a TV of this quality, you can see why there is no returning. I used to be skeptical, but I am now a convert with regards to flat screen TV’s. I picked up my TV on the net, and it was the best decision I ever made. My friends are doing the same after becoming jealous of my 32 inch flat screen.
