We purchased the Sony 32XBR4 (a couple of versions ago) and we were very happy with it until last week. The picture turned into vertical stripes. Called Sony. Sorry, out of warranty. (by 4 months!) Repair shop said it's likely that the LCD panel is dead, meaning it's cheaper to replace the TV. I checked the reviews on Amazon of the TV we bought, and there are many reports of the same problem as our TV. Sony, are you reading this? People read this and don't buy your TV's. Our older 27 inch WEGA is still working like the day we bought it. How is it that the quality can go down so fast? I believe the issue is more widespread than just our TV. Grrrr.

I am a big fan of Sony when it comes to TV. I bought 32XBR4 in 2007, trusted the brand so much, didn't buy extended warranty, a year and a half later, tv got virtical lines, took it to the repair shop, they told me it's the panel, and if I need to repair it, it will cost me $800 just replace the panel. I was so heart broken, could not look for another tv for about 6 months. April 2009, new 32XBR9 came out, I thought newer is better, because it should have new technology. I got all excited, went to Best Buy and got myself another Sony TV 32XBR9. At first it didn't hit me, I thought maybe because it's still new, 2 weeks has goneby, the damn TV was still too slow, 2X 1/2 slowwer that XBR4 I had before, plus the features, you have to use menu, there's no button on the remote, very annoying, inconvenient, and waste of my money, so I return it after 3 weeks. Right now, I am still hurt, and still without tv in my room, SONY is a BAD name for me.

I got this set as a warranty replacement for the LN32A330.
Supposedly this is a newer model, it was a step in the WRONG direction! The reason my older set needed to be
replaced was for a defective main board- the audio would cut in and out of HD channels.
This does the same thing!! arrgghh.
Not only that, but I can hardly get any HD channels now, the tuner actually got worse.
The audio is so horrible on this set , that I get a headache after 5 min of watching TV. It's very tiney sounding, even after adjustments.
The picture also looks alot worse w / "jaggies" with high speed pictures. I know this is an inherent problem with LCD, but did not happen as often as this new set.
Maybe it's just my luck, but have never owned a samsung product that I would recommend to anybody (Cellphones, DVD players, and now TV)
I can't say really anything good about this tv. I should have spend the extra cash and got a Sony.

First of all, the next model down in the Sony line up is over $100 cheaper and almost the exact same TV. This one says it is an XBR, but it does not have the crosslink menu.

I have a 50" sony XBR that I love, but this 32" is a huge dissapointment.

I cannot get it to work consistently with my DirecTV receiver, so it's going back and I'm trying a different brand.

The picture was incredible while it lasted. After about 14 months my 32" HD Sony started displaying a double image. The TV repair man said it was a bad solder connection that would have costed a couple of hundred dollars to fix. I'm back to watching our old tube TV. The old technology is much more reliable and costed a lot less. Save your money, folks.

EVeryone say Samsung is the best but once i got it. . . can't even adjust the color right,
panel in the back where you plug in the cable is thin and weak, a little press i think I would break the panel.
return and got the LG, it is perfect and color is sharp and nice as default setting.

to this low. If you thinking of a dummy monitor this is the one. XBR9 is like a India car or a third world country product.

This was the original review for the earlier model of this TV(LN32A330) however I feel it still applies as other Samsung models are known to have the same issues.

This LCD was a steal for the kind of picture and sound quality it provided. We rarely had any issues with it until now. One day when we came home we were looking forward to just vegging on the couch to watch our program. Grabbed the remote and pressed the power button. The Direct TV console turned on followed by the familiar red light at the bottom center of the tv. This is usually followed by a distinct ringing beep that would indicate the power is turned on. There was no beep. No ring. No sound. No picture. Just pure black with the red power light winking at us. We tried everything to resurrect the picture including disconnecting the power cord and using different wall sockets. Nothing. I called Samsung worldwide and the service agent said that it is a service call issue however since we bought the TV on June 30 2008, we are no longer covered by the warranty as it is now August 2009. It amuses me how crap like this happens soon after the warranty runs out. I looked all over online and many Samsung owners of various models and sizes have experienced the same thing, a defective power supply and it will have to be replaced. I also looked to see if I could do it myself if I buy the part and save a little scratch. But it turns out that it involves using a soldering gun and having failed shop class, I figured I would call a professional. Repair will cost upwards of $250 including service call, parts and labor. Just when you think you're getting a bargain, just be aware that it could cost you in the long run. Next time I don't think I'll worry about spending a little more if it means not having to go through this headache.

First of all, the TV is fine, no problems. I had to cancel my order from Amazon after they shipped it to me via a company called Pilot Air Freight. This company sat on the TV for 10 days wondering how they were going to get it to me since they do not service my area. They finally consigned it to another freight company who only services my area once a month. So here I sit waiting over a month for my order; not in today's world, I cancelled my order and bought the same TV at Wal Mart for less money. I phoned Amazon and they will not refund my money until the TV gets back to them from Pilot Air Freight, that I never received in the first place. What a joke to say the least, I guess I will have to file a dispute with my credit card company. Like I said the TV I bought at Wal Mart is great it is Amazon and Pilot you have to watch for.
